Dear Friends,
|
What is the best way to get work done by people?
Before we answer that, lets see why is it necessary to get
work done by people?
Most people are lone performers. They do their work,
sometimes very well, and then they do not get the best of life. Why? They had
no expertise in getting work done by others.
For example, the teacher prepares well, is an expert in her
subject, but does not know how to get the best out of the kids in the
classroom. She becomes frustrated with work and life.
The manager / businessman is self-driven.
He is disciplined and hard working. But he does not know how to get the best out of his colleagues. He instructs. He shouts. He threatens. He pleads. He gives incentives. Still results are not to his expectations. He too is frustrated. So are his team members.

The inventor / innovator has brilliant ideas. He knows his
work is a game changer. However, he is not good at marketing. Neither does he
know how to create a team that can do that work for him. He is frustrated.
The coach is brilliant. His strategies are awesome. He does
not know how to get the best out of his players. Of what use are his
strategies? He is frustrated.
Parents produce children. They dream of a brilliant life for
their children. They have no clue how to do that. They can see the kids wasting
their potential. The parents themselves are lost. Their intention is great.
Their approach is mostly lazy or desperate. Both the children and the parents are
frustrated.
So on and so forth...
Everyone needs someone. Sometimes to complete them. Sometimes
to assist them. Sometimes to pat them. Sometimes to believe in them.
We all need someone. Sometimes we need more than one.
And we need to know how to get things done with them and by
them.
How to achieve this?
1) Stop instructing. Start helping. (less than 10% of people
do that)
2) Ask yourself which approach has maximum chances of
working. (Only smart people can do this )
3) Follow through. ( less than 10% of the 10% = 1 % do this )
4) Keep improving your approach and keep following through.
Relentlessly. (Less than 10% of the 1% do that. Imagine your chance of success
now)
5) Give up excuses. Don't give up on efforts.
6) Whatever happens, keep the respect alive. (Less than 1% of
the 1% do this. Now imagine your chances of success all over again)
7) Whatever happens, from your side, please do not spoil the
relationship. Nothing is worth that.
(This ensures peace that helps you to focus on long term too)
(This ensures peace that helps you to focus on long term too)
8) You need not match people in skills. However, you
certainly need to match them in attitudes. Attitudes are infectious. So what
infection are people catching from you? Which attitude of yours is just blowing
them away AND inspiring them my dear?
When we can do these 8 things, the world better watches out.
A champion leader is in the making. You will actually do more than what you
have the potential for. Won't that be brilliant?
I think it will be appropriate if I wish you, 'Congrats' in
advance. What do you say?
With loads of love, prayers and exceptional wishes,
Narendra Goidani
